We found the perfect Miami venue to fete our Visionaire 59 FAIRYTALE issue during the Art Basel festivities: an enchanted garden in the heart of the W Hotel. Under the trees and through The Grove’s winding paths, we welcomed our own fantasy wish list of art and fashion notables, including Francisco Costa, Alber Elbaz, Tilda Swinton, Wolfgang Tillmans, Andre Balazs, Ryan McGinley, Aaron Young, Eva Chow, Viktor + Rolf, Nate Lowman, amd Kaws, to celebrate our issue presented by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin featuring fairytales by Douglas Gordon, James Franco, Richard Phillips, Ugo Rondinone, and more. Another reason to celebrate was Russian artist Fyodor Pavlov-Andreevich’s “The Great Vodka River”, a 3-story installation featuring Russian folk singers and a river of vodka, generously sponsored by Beluga Noble Russian Vodka. Cocktails with edible orchids featured special syrups concocted by International Flavors & Fragrances were inspired by Pierre Huyghe’s Fairytale. Glow-in-the-dark wristbands were given to guests, inspired by Viktor & Rolf’s glowing “Disco Hedgehog” Fairytale. And DJ Sebastian Perrin played sound bites of Bjork’s acapella lyrics from her Fairytale in collaboration with Gabriela Fridriksdóttir and M/M, Paris.
