Faena Hotel and Universe, in Buenos Aires’s posh Puerto Madero, is one of those achingly hip, stare-at-me-I’m-so-hot hotels, with a design aesthetic that manages to be both chic and disarming — because, really, where else have you seen unicorns as restaurant taxidermy?

We gave you a slice in the review of our current sale, but there were simply too many trendy spaces to fit into one gallery. Voila, a closer look after the jump!

Faena, opened in 2004, is truly a world of its own — hip, moody and utterly seductive. Proprietor Alan Faena, a fashion designer, worked with Phillipe Starck on the interiors, and that fact is apparent from the get-go, from the lobby’s velvet curtains and sumptuously dark interior. Even the hallways are high drama.

This hotel is a magnet for beautiful people, with everything from an intimate pool to an in-house cabaret to a sceney restaurant to attract them. And you know what that means: excellent people watching. Our correspondent on the scene saw glamorous types mixed in with older, sophisticated world travelers and lunching businessmen, usually found in the Library Bar.

See even more beautiful people at the hotel’s intimate pool area, where the bar serves tasty drinks and plays thumping music well into the night.
