Sculptures, robots, mechanisms, installations and paintings present the unfiltered, dream-like visions of Franco Losvizzero.
Artist was born in 1973 in Rome, Italy. He graduated from Rome’s Accademia delle Belle Arti. Then, turning to photography, he obtained a degree from the European Institute of Design in Rome.
Drawing, oil painting and, more recently, sculpture are at the basis of his artistic research.
In 1996 Franco Losvizzero moved to London to extend his studies at the Thames Valley University. He also started making frequent visits to New-York and the United States, which would deeply influence his work. More particularly, works by Bruce Nauman, American pop artists, and Bacon, brought him to an investigation of the unconscious, an exploration the artist also carried by attending classes in autogenic training, acting classes centred on the Stanislavsky method, and the study of psycho-philosophical disciplines.
In 2006, Losvizzero worked on his first collection in Murano glass in collaboration with Berengo Studio 1989; this collaboration continued in 2007 with works up to 2 meters in height. Artist has also contributed to the making of a number of short films, besides directing video clips and a documentary on the circus.
